Prince Edward County, Ontario
Waupoos Estates is the original Prince Edward County winery, opened in 1993. With its long history and depth of experience in the County, Waupoos Estates has come to make a celebrated range of wines that have won numerous awards, including gold-medal winners at the All-Canadian Wine Championships.
Its line of wines includes Auxerrois, a dry white wine with aromas of peach, apricot and yellow plum; a lightly oaked Chardonnay with aromas of banana, pineapple and notes of vanilla bean; Baco Noir with flavours of black cherry, blackberry and plum with hints of smoky oak; and Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French and American oak, with complex aromas of blackberry, cassis and spice and notes of smoky oak and cocoa.
Waupoos Estates was founded by Ed Neuser and Rita Kaimins, who came to the County with no experience growing grapes or making wine. The pair are Prince Edward County pioneers who proved the region offers an ideal terroir for winemaking.
