Cheesemakers and cheese galore

Outstanding Canadian cheesemakers from coast-to-coast are represented at The Great Canadian Cheese Festival, offering whey more than 125 artisan cheeses for tasting and purchase at the Artisan Cheese & Fine Food Fair on Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3.

The Festival showcases producers who turn the pure milk of Canadian cows, goats, sheep and water buffalo into cheese, using no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, and no modified milk ingredients.

More than 30 cheese producers have signed up so far. More are expected by the time the Festival gets under way.

Merci beaucoup to Plaisirs Gourmets, a leading distributor of Québec cheese, for its support of the Festival with the outstanding cheese producers it represents. Plaisirs Gourmets maintains an excellent website at fromagesduquebec.qc.ca.

Much thanks also to Glen Echo Fine Foods for making it possible to present three of the best B.C. cheesemakers in a Best of the West Pavilion in addition to showcasing other producers and artisan foods.
